PTERA ( Prototype-Technology Evaluation Research Aircraft)

Mission:
The Prototype-Technology-Evaluation Research Aircraft, or PTERA was designed with the intent of providing an extremely versatile, yet inexpensive flight testbed to, not only test advanced aerodynamic treatments, but to support and validate experiments in aero-efficiency, aeroelasticity, control and dynamics, health management systems, structures, acoustics, etc. The large airframe, not only minimizes Reynolds number and scaling issues associated with sub-scale experimentation, but also provides a significant amount of payload capacity for sensors, flight data acquisition systems, and flight experiment support equipment.
