Hybrid Powertrain Engineer

Area-I is searching for a mechanical engineer to support the development of a hybridized IC engine power generation system to be implemented in advanced unmanned aircraft systems. Embedded Systems Engineer

This position will involve working in a team environment on the design, fabrication and flight testing of advanced Unmanned Aircraft Systems from inception through production. The avionics systems integration electrical engineer will be responsible for integration and testing of embedded electronics and associated software. Performance of this role will require an understanding of complex electronic systems and their interactions. Detailed knowledge in evaluation, testing, troubleshooting of GPS, Ethernet, serial, CAN bus communications, RF datalink systems, power management systems, and general payload integration is vital for this position. Windows and Linux operating system experience and configuration are a plus. Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related discipline.

Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer

This position will involve working in a team environment in developing, implementing, and testing GNC strategies onboard Area-I’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems within Area-I’s autopilot framework. Performance of this role will include development of code to implement strategies, simulation testing, flight testing, and flight test data analysis. GNC will range from inner-loop control processes through multi-agent and MUM-T autonomy implementations. A strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and aerodynamics will be required to fulfill this role. Other roles may include aircraft aerodynamic design/analysis, ground-station operation or flight test engineer.

Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline with experience in the practical implementation of GNC systems. Programming experience, including C++, is desired. This work will include simulation/laboratory testing that culminates in field testing of systems and components. The person in this position will work as part of a team to develop software capabilities for multiple mission requirements including guidance navigation and control, payload sensor integration, communications, electro-mechanical control of systems, and GUI development. This position will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties related to the collection, management, and reporting of financial information. As a Purchaser and Government Property Agent you will be responsible for the company’s asset management from purchase until consumption. The desired candidate will work alongside the technical team on our projects to purchase materials and track them from receipt until they are ultimately consumed. The candidate will prepare monthly spending reports to program managers and accounting on the programs they work within.
